Veteran-Owned Redwood Siteworks Nears Completion of Sitework at Albany Affordable Housing Development

Oct 7, 2026

Redwood Siteworks, a New York State Certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business, is nearing completion of its sitework scope at Freedom Springs, an affordable housing development at 64 Colvin Avenue in Albany. The 120-unit mixed-use development project includes 30 apartments designated for veterans at risk of homelessness.

Since beginning work on the project in October 2024, Redwood Siteworks has completed a broad range of site development and infrastructure work spanning underground utilities, concrete, paving preparation, slope stabilization, clearing and landscaping.

Redwood's stormwater work included installation of stormwater piping and precast structures, along with a tie-in to the City of Albany stormwater system. The team also performed trenching for electrical and data conduits and furnished and installed light pole bases as part of the project's underground infrastructure.

As work progressed above ground, Redwood Siteworks prepared and placed concrete walks, ramps and curbing; prepared the site for asphalt pavement; constructed a modular block retaining wall system for slope stabilization; cleared trees for new city sidewalks; and completed the project's landscape package.

The range of work required Redwood's foremen, operators and laborers to coordinate multiple sitework disciplines as the project moved from underground infrastructure into later-stage site improvements.

Redwood Siteworks provides site development and site contracting services for commercial, industrial, municipal and other large-scale projects across New York State.

That coordination continued through the winter months. While maintaining snow management responsibilities for other clients, the Redwood Siteworks team continued advancing work at Freedom Springs whenever site and weather conditions allowed, helping maintain progress through a challenging construction season.

“Freedom Springs has required our team to coordinate a wide range of sitework disciplines across multiple phases of construction,” said Michael Robichaud, Vice President of Construction. “We're proud of the work our foremen, operators and laborers have put into this project and especially proud to contribute to a development that will provide affordable housing for veterans and other members of the Albany community.”

Redwood Siteworks' remaining scope is expected to wrap up in early October, subject to weather and site conditions.
